Eligibility Requirements

  • The candidate should have earned a degree of graduation from some recognized university in any of the streams such as Science, Arts, Commerce, and technical subjects.
  • The minimum and maximum age of the aspirant to apply for this examination is 21 years and 40 years.
  • For the post of DSP, the age of the contender must be between 21 to 27 years on or before 1st January of the exam commencement year.
  • Candidate must meet the below stated physical standard for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police:
  • The height of the male applicant should be 170.18 cm, chest 33″, and chest expansion 34.5″.
  • The height of the female applicant should be 157.50 in order to be eligible.

  • The Preliminary Exam involves two papers consisting of Objective type (multiple choice questions).
  • The examination will be of a total of 200 marks.
  • Paper-I will have questions from General Studies for 100 marks and needs to be completed within 2 hours time duration.
  • Paper II will have questions from an optional subject which will be chosen by the candidates from the list of 19 subjects. Furthermore, it will be for 100 marks for a duration of 2 hours.

Those applicants who successfully qualify Stage 1 exam i.e. preliminary exam will have to appear for Main Examination which includes the following details:

  • Paper-II will have questions from Hindi subjects (including Hindi Essay) in the Devnagri script that consists of 100 marks.
  • Paper-III involves questions from General Studies for 100 marks.

Personality Test /Interview

After qualifying main examinations, candidates will be called to appear for the Personal Interview round i.e. the last stage of the selection process for the HPSC PSC Exam. However, it must be noted that only those candidates who are shortlisted in the written examination will be able to move for Interviews. It comprises of total 75 marks.
