IMO 2023: International Mathematics Olympiad is organized every year by SOF (Science Olympiad Foundation) in order to help students test their mathematical skills. A huge number of students take part in this Olympiad is conducted for all students across the nation or at international level. The main objective of this Olympiad is to recognize and support students who can be a future technologists and scientist. Students’ mathematical skills are judged through this Olympiad. IMO 2023 Eligibility Requirements

The applicants are suggested to know the eligibility criteria in order to appear in the International Mathematical Olympiad. The candidates will have to pass in the pre-IMO qualifying rounds in order to take part in the IMO. Only the candidates who satisfy the minimum eligibility can apply for IMO 2023:

  • A participant should be a resident or citizen of that country he / she belongs to. Candidate should be selected through that Country’s national Mathematical Olympiad or equivalent selection program.
  • Contestants must be not more than twenty years before 2 July in the year of participation at the IMO.
  • Participant must be enrolled in full time primary or secondary education on or after 1st December in the year before IMO 2023.
  • For home-schooled students, they should not have received a high-school diploma or its equivalent, and they should be working toward such a credential on 1st December.
  • Class 1 to 12 students will be able to participate in Level 1 Exam.
  • Qualifying students in Level 1 from Class 3 to will be further called to take part in the level 2 exam.

IMO 2023 Registration Process

  • First of all go to the conducting authority’s official web portal i.e. Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF).
  • On the homepage, candidates need to go through the complete details of the IMO.
  • For the exam, candidates can only apply via offline mode. Interested students will have to contact their respective schools. They can collect the registration forms from the school authorities. It must be clarified that no student can apply for the IMO 2023 registration independently.
  • The official conducting authority will not accept any application form directly from students. For registration, students will have to contact their respective schools.
  • The school’s coordinating teacher will be responsible to fill up the School Registration Form (SRF) and Students’ Registration Sheet (SRS) according to the instructions mentioned & send it to the SOF’s office before the last date of forms submission.
  • SOF will register the applicant’s students and the school.
  • According to the guidelines, Students’ Registration Sheet (SRS) received from the School, the official authority i.e. SOF will generate roll numbers for all the participants.
  • After the successful completion of the registration, the candidates must check the exam schedule and eligibility criteria for the International Mathematical Olympiad 2023.

Registration Fee:

The fee for the Indian schools is Rs.125 (including GST), while for International schools it is USD 9 (including GST).
Schools will also collect an additional amount of Rs.25. USD 1 from International schools per student towards honorarium in charge.

Exam Pattern

There will be two levels in the examination as specified below:

Level 1:

  • The first level will be conducted in the respective schools of the participants during school hours.
  • The test will be of 60 minutes duration.
  • There will be 35 objective-type questions for class 1 to class 4 and 50 objective-type questions for class 5 to class 12.
  • Mode of Exam: Offline
  • Type of Questions: Objective
  • Medium of Test: English
  • Syllabus of the Test: CBSE, ISC/ ICSE and State Board syllabus is followed in the test papers.

Level 2:

  • Level 2 of the exam is conducted for students of class 3 to class 12.
  • It comprises of four sections- Logical Reasoning, Mathematical Reasoning, Everyday Mathematics, and Achievers Section.

  • Type of Questions: Objective
  • Medium of Test: English
  • Syllabus of the Test: CBSE, ISC/ ICSE and State Board syllabus is followed for in the test papers.

Awards and Prizes

The winners of the International Mathematical Olympiad will be eligible to receive awards and prizes from the International Mathematical Olympiad Foundation (IMOF).

  • The total number of prizes (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) should be approved by the Jury and must not be more than half the total number of Contestants. The numbers of 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes should be approximately in the ratio 1:2:3.
  • Special prizes may be awarded for outstanding solutions considered by the Jury. Chief Coordinator will put forward proposals for special prizes.
  • The prizes will be distributed at the Closing Ceremony. Each Contestant who fails to receive a 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize receives a Certificate of Honourable Mention if he/she will acquire seven points for the solution of at least one problem.
  • Observer and Participant will get a Certificate of Participation.
