IELTS Exam 2023: The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) was established in the year 1989 to help colleges and universities and colleges judge the English written and communication skills of candidates who are aspiring to study or train in the English language in foreign countries. IELTS is conducted as a general test of English for employment and immigration in many countries. For the IELTS exam, candidates need to choose to appear for either the General Training or Academic IELTS test. The Academic IELTS test is for the aspirants who plan to study undergraduate and postgraduate level courses in English at university. Additionally, it is formulated to test the understanding level and usage of complex academic language.
The General Training IELTS test is for the individuals who require a more general level of English proficiency for high school, college, immigration, or employment purposes. There is no such pass or fail in IELTS Examination. Scores are evaluated on the 9-band system. Each university, college, or organization decides its own level of IELTS scores to meet its candidate’s requirements. This test is basically divided into four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Aspirants can appear for the IELTS test as many times as they want to. Also, they need not wait 90 days before taking the exam again.

IELTS 2023 Eligibility Requirements
Any individual irrespective of his/ her age, gender, race, religion or nationality can appear for this exam, however, the students who are under 16 years of age should not take IELTS test. As such, IELTS administrators (IDP/ British Council) have not set any age limit for the exam, however, it is not recommended for candidates below 16 years to take up this test. Although if they wish to appear for the same, they can also take up the exam.
IELTS Exam 2023 Registration Process
Aspirants must ensure to keep their passport handy during registration time as the registration requires your passport number. Apart from this, candidates also need to produce their passports on the day of the test. One can register for IELTS 2023 in easy steps:
- First of all, go to the authorized registration page of the British Council.
- For registration, you need to create an account with the British Council.
- Look for your nearest test center.
- Now register for the test and pay the requisite fees online.
- Candidates, less than 18 years of age need their parents or guardian to book the IELTS test for them.
- After the completion of the IELTS exam registration, candidates will receive written confirmation of the information regarding the date and time from the test center.
IELTS Exam Fee
In India, the IELTS registration fee is INR 13,250. For online registrations, candidates can only use credit/debit payment modes, for in-person registrations, you can make the payment via credit or debit card / ICICI/ DD bank deposit slip.
IELTS Exam Pattern and Syllabus
It is very necessary for the candidates who wish to score well on their IELTS Test to get a detailed idea of the exam pattern and syllabus. The exam syllabus includes four sections i.e. Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing. Students must score good marks and clear these four sections and get the IELTS total score. Participants must know how to approach each section of the test. The total score will be the sum of the scores in the four sections. The total duration will be 2 hours and 45 minutes to solve the entire test.
Result
Once you give the IELTS test, you will be able to view the results within 13 days after the exam in the form of a test report. It will be accessible through online mode or if possible for the test center, aspirants can also receive a preview by SMS alert. Participants will get the results, however, expect results by phone or fax. If you wish to collect the results in person, then you need to check with your center. Applicants are suggested to keep the test report form secure as no replacements are given. The test center will also send your results to five recognizing educational institutions/ organizations free of charge if you want.
Offline Mode: For offline or paper-based tests, you can get your outcome within 13 calendar days from the day of your IELTS test.
Online Mode: For online mode, candidates can collect their results online within 3-5 days of the test. On your result day, you will acquire an intimation from your test center about the results. You just have to log in with your ID, password, test date details, and passport number to check your result. From the date of the result announcement, your outcome will be posted online for the next 28 days.
