This school is a member of Indianapolis Classical Schools which is an internationally diverse, public charter school with outstanding and excellent results in Indianapolis. Herron High school has an average graduation rate of 99%. The school’s 100% graduates of recent classes have been admitted to a 4-year university or the military.
The school first began in the basement of the nearby Harrison Center with only 100 freshmen students. Now, it has become a home to more than 900 students in classes 9-12. Being the best public charter high school in Indianapolis, it offers the opportunity to its students to take Advanced Placement coursework and exams. HHS has five core classes where the students are required to take all five core classes throughout their entire duration at the school. These five core classes include Science, English, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Latin. Moreover, HHS offers various other electives including various performing arts, Spanish, French, Advanced jazz band, and various visual arts. In August 2017, HHS formed and opened its second campus, Riverside High School. This school comprises a student-to-teacher ratio of 14 to 1 and focuses on bringing a new dimension to public education.

The athletics program at this school is recognized by the IHSAA and its varsity teams are allowed to compete in postseason tournaments. Herron High School College Classes
Students at the School should opt for courses on campus if Herron offers the course. Each semester, Ivy Tech Community College offers courses to the students on campus for dual credit. If Herron High School does not offer a course a student wants to opt for, then the student and parent/guardian need to request permission from the administration of the school.
If the course is approved, the student can go further with off-campus enrollment at the offering university/ college. However, Herron High School does not accept any financial responsibility for such a task.
Daily Schedule
Herron High School follows block scheduling. Each student is scheduled for 8 classes at HHS. The school has scheduled 4 classes on A days and the remaining 4 on B days. Students and parents/ guardians should pay close attention to the announcements and newsletters related to A days and B days.
Normal school hours of Herron High School are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., i.e. Monday -Thursday. Classes start at 10 a.m. on Fridays to allow teachers to appear for professional development before school.
