IIT Courses 2023 Eligibility Criteria
The officials of Indian Institute of Technology prescribe the eligibility criteria that all interested applicants are required to fulfil to secure admission into the courses offered by the IITs. The eligibility conditions are based on the UG and PG courses only. Check out the below section to know about the eligibility criteria for admission. This excludes IITM online degrees.
B.Tech and Dual Programs:
- Admissions to the above courses at Indian Institute of Technology are granted on the basis of two engineering entrance exams and a joint counselling process.
- The aspirants are required to pass JEE Main, and JEE advanced for admission.
- JoSAA counselling will take place for further seat allotment to various IITs.
M.Tech:
- A candidate holding a qualified Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) will be eligible.
- Applicant possessing a Bachelors Degree in Engineering from a recognized institute is eligible to apply.
- Those candidates who are in the final year of such programs will be eligible too for GATE.

Admission to the IIT Courses
The candidates will have to clear the JEE Main and advanced paper for admission to the B. Tech program. The selection to M. Tech course will be done on the basis of the GATE score. During the JoSAA counselling, the IITs will release a category wise and round-wise cut-offs for admissions to B. Tech and Dual Degree programs. The candidates who pass the entrance exam will have to participate in the JoSAA counselling. JoSAA is basically a joint seat allocation for admissions to 23 IITs, 23 IIITs, 31 NITs and 23 other government- operated technical institutes.
