BARC Exam 2024: It is a great opportunity for the students of Engineering and Science graduates. BARC or Bhabha Atomic Research Centre is a reputed research center that provides various opportunities to meritorious candidates. It is conducted basically for two courses- OCES (Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates & Science Post Graduates- one-year duration) and DGFS (DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates and Physics Graduates- two-year duration) for M.Tech and M.Chem Engineering.
BARC has released the notification for the recruitment of candidates to Trainee Scientific Officer (TSO). The recruitments will be carried out through an online examination i.e. BARC. It is a national-level online exam. However, the GATE scorecard of Engineering and Science streams will also be acceptable. The candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria for the BARC exam can apply for it. Eligibility Criteria
- The candidates must be an Indian national.
- The age of the candidates applying, must be 26 years (as of 1st August 2024) for the General category. For OBC candidates the age should be 29 years, for SC/ST candidates the age must be 31 years, for dependents of those who died in the 1984 riots the age is 31 years, and for the persons domiciled in the Kashmir Division of J&K the age should be 31 years.
- The candidates must have completed B.E./ B.Tech/ B.Sc (Eng.)/ 5-years Integrated M.Tech scoring a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.
- The candidates opting to be considered based on a GATE score must have a valid score card of GATE-2021 or GATE-2024 in the same Eng. discipline as the qualifying degree discipline.
- Qualifying degree in branches like Automobiles, Reliability, Architecture, Mining, Communication, Master of Computer Applications, Electrochemical, Oils & Fats, Petrochemicals, paper, Textiles, Aerospace, Industrial Production, Ceramics, Geology, Bio-Medical Electronics/ Instruments, Information Technology, Dues & Dye Intermediates, Energy Systems, Paints & Varnishes, Plastics, Sugar Technology, Mechatronics, etc. will not be allowed to apply for the exam.
- Various disciplines will be eligible for BARC recruitment 2024. The applicants who belong to Eng. Or Science streams are eligible from the following branches.

BARC Exam 2024 Application Form
- Visit the official website of the BARC.
- Select your discipline i.e. Engineering or Science.
- Click on apply online to start filling up the application form.
- Now, fill in all the necessary details as asked in the application form.
- Pay the application fee and click on submit.
Application Fee
The candidates have to pay the application fee during the application process. It is mandatory for all the candidates. The application fee is non-refundable. The fee can only be paid through online mode. The fee is different for different categories as follows-
- The application fee for General/OBC (male applicants) is Rs. 500/-.
- The candidates who belong to other categories including all female candidates are exempted from the application fee.

Examination Pattern
- BARC examination 2024 will be conducted online mode.
- There will be a total of 100 questions in the BARC exam.
- The students will have to complete the question paper in 2 hours.
- The maximum mark of the examination will be 300.
- The candidates will get 3 marks for each correct answer and for each incorrect answer 1 mark will be deducted as a penalty.

Selection Procedure
Based on GATE Score Card
Except “Nuclear Engineering” course, all other courses consider a valid GATE score card to shortlist the candidates for recruitment. The candidates with an excellent GATE scorecard will be selected for the next round of selection i.e. Interview.
Based on BARC Exam
The candidates have another option to opt for BARC recruitment through an online exam. Based on the performance of the candidates in the BARC online test, they will be selected for admission.
