Apart from the strong finances, individuals also need the brains to step into this glorious field. Those who are talented are financially unstable and those who have money, aren’t talented enough to enter in this field. Most of the scholarships in India are caste based, which is mostly Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe and backward class candidates. For the general category candidates, they need to work things out on their own in most cases. There are a few other governments and private institutes of scholarships in the field of Aviation for well-deserving and talented students. Find out more about the same from below section.
Free training at NDA
One who aspire to be a pilot can fulfill his dream by joining NDA with merit. For the same, a candidate needs to pass the NDA entrance exam and should pass class XII with Science background with compulsory subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as one of the language papers. If a candidate fulfills the eligibility and pass the entrance exam, then he/ she will be given training as a pilot at the National Defense Academy. After that, a specialized training at the Air Force Academy will also be imparted to the candidate. The training period will be 3 years during which a candidate will also receive a decent stipend to sustain himself. After the completion of the training, a candidate is commissioned as a Flying Officer and appointed as a pilot at the Air Force Station.
Candidate must note that he/ she cannot quit the job of Flying officer until or unless the candidate is not required by the Indian Air Force. The decision will purely be made by the Indian Air Force that a Flying Officer will be relieved from his job or not. There are some most popular institutions that grant scholarships to deserving and shortlisted candidates for their pilot training. The IGRUA (Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi) is the one that administers the scholarship grant amount to deserving candidates.
Free Scholarships at National level
Scholarship by Ministry of Tribal Affairs
The ministry of Tribal affairs offers 10 scholarships to Indian, students who belong to scheduled tribe students and wish to pursue CPL after intermediate education. Candidate’s parents would not be earning more than Rs 44500 per annum from all sources. The scholarship amount is paid until 60 hours at Government flying school rates or until your PPL training.
Scholarships by Rajiv Gandhi Foundation
This scholarship offers 3 lakhs each to 2 women who are interested in getting a CPL. This scholarship is only applicable if you are a part of a government flying school. It is based on the merit.
The JRD TATA Scholarship
This scholarship is a perfect for the candidates who want to pursue their Commercial pilot training or Type rating training. Every year, students who are training in India or abroad receive up to 10 lakhs of scholarship amount on the basis of their performance in the Interview.
Scholarship by Saraswati Aviation Academy
Candidates whose parent’s annual income is not more than 1 lac are eligible to avail benefit of Saraswati Aviation Academy Scholarship. Such candidates can fill up Saraswati Aviation Academy Scholarship Form in online mode. Moreover, candidates will have to submit a copy of the following documents along with the scholarship form at [email protected].

Scholarship by Air India
Deserving students will get two scholarships each of amount 4 lacs on the basis of their merit in every batch.
Scholarship by Indian Airlines
Deserving and talented students will get two scholarships each of 4 Lacs in every aviation batch. Admission will be based on 10+2 marks in Mathematics and Physics subjects.
Free Scholarships at International Level
Air Line Pilots Association Scholarship
This scholarship program is eligible only for those candidates whose parents are deceased pilot members of the Air Line Pilots Association, long- term disabled and medically retired. Shortlisted students will get a total monetary value of 12,000, with $3,000 disbursed annually to the beneficiary for 4 continuous years provided that a 3.0 GPA is maintained.
The Black Aerospace Professionals offers their financial aid to needy, bright, deserving and talented high school graduates who aspire to take a pilot training program from the institute. Under the scheme, 38 shortlisted candidates will get $179,000 and experience a fully sponsored pilot training program.
GAPAN Scholarship for Pilot Training
The Honourable Company of Air Pilots previously named as the Guild of Pilot & Navigators (GAPAN) invites online application for seekers in the aviation industry.
