Eligibility Criteria
For TGT Arts
- Those candidates who have cleared their 12th exam with 45% marks can apply for this exam.
- Additionally, the candidates are also required to hold a Bachelor’s degree in commerce and arts with 50% marks in elementary education.
TGT Non-Medical:
- Candidates who have passed their HSC exam with 50% are eligible to apply.
- The candidate must also hold a Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc/B.Ed) with 50% marks in aggregate in elementary education.
for TGT Medical:
- Candidates who have cleared their HSC exam and also hold a bachelor’s degree with 50% marks in each are eligible to apply.
for TGT Shastri:
- The applicants are required to qualify for ‘Shastri’ with 50% marks from a recognized university of Himachal Pradesh.
TGT Hindi Language:
- The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree with Hindi as the compulsory subject.
TGT Punjabi Language:
- The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in Punjabi in order to apply.
- Appearing candidates of 2-year diploma course are also eligible.
for TGT Urdu Language:
- Candidates must have done graduation in Urdu
NOTE– The age of the appearing students should not be more than 21 years.
Exam Pattern
- The examination will be conducted through the offline mode.
- The paper will contain 150 objective-type questions.
- Total marks in the exam will be 150.
- The duration of the exam will be 2 hours and 30 minutes.
- The candidate will receive one mark for each correct answer. There will be no negative marking.
- Paper 1 will be on Child Development and Pedagogy. It will contain 30 questions for 30 marks.
- The language I will contain 30 questions for 30 marks.
- Language II will contain 30 questions for 30 marks.
- The mathematics section will contain 30 questions for 30 marks.
- The Environmental Studies section will contain 30 questions for 30 marks.
- 2 Child Development and Pedagogy section will contain 30 questions for 30 marks.
- The language I will contain 30 questions for 30 marks.
- Language II will comprise 30 questions for 30 marks.
- Maths or Science section will include 60 questions for 60 marks.
- The Social Science section will contain 60 questions for 60 marks.

- Mathematics: Shapes and spatial understanding, Arithmetic, Geometry, Mensuration, Algebra, Numbers.
- The language I: Concept for language development and Comprehension based questions.
- Language II (English): Development of language and Comprehension based questions in English.
- Environmental Studies: Our surroundings, Food resources, and care, solar system, Natural Resources, Habitats, Parts of the body, Air, Water.
Selection Process
HP TET selection process 2023 involves a few stages such as:
- Firstly, candidates have to fill out the complete application form in online mode with the assistance of the official website of HP BOSE.
- After the application process is over, candidates will be able to download their admit card/ hall ticket from the official website of the exam.
- Next, they have to appear for the HP TET exam in offline mode for their chosen subject.
- After the completion of the exam, HPBOSE will issue the HP TET result on its official web handle.
- Candidates who pass the written exam will get the HP TET certificates on the basis of which they can apply for the post of a teacher in the schools situated in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
