NID Entrance Exam 2023: The National Institute of Design (NID) is known as one of the most prestigious and renowned institutes for design. This university organizes an entrance exam namely the NID Entrance Exam which enrolls eligible candidates in various Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in the field of design. Its three campuses are based in Bengaluru, Gandhinagar, and Ahmedabad. This entrance examination is carried out to select eligible and talented students in various UG and PG courses offered in the field of design. The candidates are shortlisted for admission on the basis of a two-stage competitive test Design Aptitude Test DAT (Preliminary) and DAT (Mains). Candidates who pass both the stages will be eligible for admission to various campuses of NID based in Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Ahmedabad & other places.

After the commencement of these tests, the authorities release final merit containing the names of the qualified applicants for admission. Nominated candidates will be invited for admission and they have to carry their necessary documents to the respective campuses of NID for document verification. The documents should be in their original form.

Eligibility Requirements

Before applying for NID Entrance Exam 2023, candidates should go through the complete points below:

For B.Des Program

  • Age Criteria: The age of the candidate should not exceed 20 years. Candidates who belong to reserved categories will get a relaxation in age.
  • Educational Qualification: Those who have cleared or appeared in higher secondary (10+2 level) examination in Science/ Commerce/ Humanities/ Arts or any other discipline from a recognized educational board are eligible to apply for the B.Des program.

For M.Des Program

  • Age Criteria: The age of the applier must not be more than 30 years. Relaxation in age limit will be provided for reserved category applicants.
  • Educational Qualification: Candidate possessing a 4-year graduation/ bachelor’s degree in any specialization after 12th grade or its equivalent from any law recognized university or institute in India OR
    He/she must possess a 4 years duration diploma in Architecture/ Fine Arts/ Design/ Applied Arts, after clearing class 12th or its equivalent from any institute or university recognized by law in India OR
    Candidates should hold a 3 years bachelor’s degree in any discipline after class 12th or its equivalent.

NID Entrance Exam 2023 Application Form

  • The online registration process for the entrance exam will commence very soon.
  • Applicants will be able to fill up the complete application form through online mode.
  • The online application process will comprise of various steps such as registration, entering details in the form, documents uploading, signature of the applicant, application fee payment, and print of the application form.
  • Candidates must stay updated with the last date of the form submission. Ensure submit the form before the due date.
  • Candidates will also be able to submit their applications after the last date but along with the late fee.
  • In case, applicants wish to make changes in the details of the application form, then the authority will also provide the correction facility for the same.
  • Students must fill in the application form with all the information correctly otherwise the application will be rejected.

Result and Admission

Candidates will be able to check the result a few days after the commencement of the NID Entrance Exam. Students who will successfully clear NID Entrance Exam for both prelims and mains will be granted admission in the institute. For NID Admission, students have to submit their documents/ certificates for verification.

Candidates will have to be presented at the allotted institution for their final admission. Additionally, they also have to pay the admission fee before the last date of admission to confirm their seat in the National Institute of Design.
