IGNOU Ph.D 2023 Eligibility Requirements

Before applying for Ph.D Entrance Test in IGNOU, candidates must ensure their eligibility to appear on the test:

  • A candidate should possess a Master’s Degree in the relevant discipline from a University recognized by UGC with at least 55% marks [50%marks in the case of SC, ST, and OBC-NCL/ Differently-Abled and other categories.
  • Candidates can check the detailed eligibility criteria in the prospectus mentioned on the official website.

IGNOU Ph.D Admission 2023 Application Form

  • The application form for IGNOU Ph.D will be made available on the official website of the National Testing Agency- www.nta.ac.in.
  • The candidates can only apply via online mode using the official web portal.
  • No offline mode or hard copy of the application form will be accepted.
  • In addition to that candidates will have to upload the scanned copy of all the mandatory documents as asked in the specified format only.
  • The online registration form has to be filled with all the relevant details of the candidate. The details must be authentic so as to avoid the cancellation of the candidature of the applicants.
  • Without the fee payment, the authority will not accept the application form. Consequently, make sure to make the payment of the necessary application charges via debit card/ credit card/ net banking.
  • Only those candidates who submit the application form along with the application fee, they will be issued admit card for the entrance examination.

Exam Pattern

  • Exam Mode: The entrance exam will be held in Pen & Paper mode (Offline Mode).
  • Questions Type: IGNOU Ph.D question paper will consist of all Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).
  • The number of questions: There will be a total number of 100 questions on the entrance paper.
  • Marking Scheme: +1 will be allotted for each correct response whereas, no deduction of marks (negative marking) will be done.

IGNOU Ph.D Admission 2023 Result

  • Only those candidates who qualify for the Ph.D entrance exam and secure more than or equal to minimum qualifying marks as set by the exam conducting body will be eligible for admission.
  • The result of the entrance exam will be displayed only in the form of a merit list. The merit list of the nominated candidates will be made on the basis of their performance in the entrance exam.
  • Post the declaration of the result, qualified candidates will be called for a presentation of synopsis/ interview before the Discipline-specific Doctoral Research Committee.
  • Offer letters will be sent only to the qualified candidates and seat reservations will be applicable as per the rules and regulations of the government.
