Karnataka organizes the Teacher Eligibility Test which is known as KARTET (Karnataka Teacher Eligibility Test). The conducting authority of this exam is the Centralized Admission Cell, Karnataka. The selected candidates are recruited or appointed as teachers in various public schools of Karnataka state. Two papers are conducted for this exam. Paper 1 for lower primary levels and paper 2 for upper primary levels. The candidates who will qualify for KARTET will be awarded an eligibility certificate whose validity is up to 7 years. Eligibility Criteria
- The age of the candidate must be between 18 years to 40 years.
- Relaxation will be provided to the reserved category candidates.
Educational Qualification
For primary teacher class (1st to 5th)
- Applicants must have completed class 12th from a recognized board with 50% in aggregate. 5% of relaxation for reserved category candidates.
- Candidates must have passed B.Ed. or D.El.Ed with 45% – 50% marks in aggregate.
- Final-year students are also eligible to apply.
For Upper Primary Teachers (Class 6th to 8th)
- Applicants must have completed graduation with 50% marks in aggregate.
- Candidates need to pass a diploma in B.Ed./D.El.Ed to be eligible.
- Final year appearing candidates can also apply.
