NSO Registration 2023: Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) will organize the National Science Olympiad (NSO) like every year for the school students. SOF has its headquarters based in Delhi and it is accountable for holding various Olympiad Examinations as it tests and brings out the scientific, mathematical, computer, and English skills of the Indian as well as international students. Through this Olympiad, the students are encouraged as they get quality education and study materials.

This competitive exam is basically formulated to build the logical capability and scientific perception among the students. By appearing in this Olympiad Exam, students understand their academic potential both nationally and internationally. All the students who participate in the NSO will receive an SPR or Student Performance Report to have a clear vision of their strengths as well as weaknesses. The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) held two levels of the Exam. Participants of this competitive exam are ranked based on their marks obtained in the same. The students from classes 1 & 2 do not need to take the 2nd level exam and level 2 is only organized for class 3 to class 12 students. Eligibility Requirements

NSO is basically for school students who wish to evaluate their scientific and academic aptitude. It is mainly organized into 2 levels i.e. Level 1 & Level 2.

Level 1:

  • For level exams, there are no such specific eligibility criteria, this exam is open to the students of schools studying in class 1 to class 12.
  • In addition to that, for class 1st and class 2nd students, there are no criteria for minimum marks therefore Olympiad is Open to all the School students.

Level 2:

Only students who do well in the Level 1 exam will get selected to appear in the Level 2 exam. The students who will be eligible are:

  • Top 5% of the students from each class who took the Level 1 exam.
  • Top 25 rank holders (zone-wise) from each class.
  • Students who topped in the class from each participating school where a minimum of 10 students from a class give the exam and obtain 50% qualifying marks.

NSO Registration 2023

Candidates need to complete the application form which will be sent to the schools registered with SOF or Science Registered Foundation. For feasible explanations, a total number of 10 students will have to enroll for this test with a nominal participation fee. Post the completion of the application form, the registered school sends it to SOF (official authority) before the due date. Students who are participating in the test will receive a roll number from the coordinating teacher of the school. SOF must get a photocopy of the SRS (Student Registration Sheet) and SRF (School Registration Form) before the last date. All the necessary details including registration forms and prospectus are sent to the SOF registered schools before the stipulated due date. The schools will also get notified of venues and dates for the 2nd level NSO immediately after its confirmation.

Pattern of Exam

  • A total number of questions: 35 objective questions for grade 1 to grade 4 while the remaining 50 objective-type questions are set up for the students of class 5 to class 12.
  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Sections: 3 (logical thinking, computer and information technology, and the achiever’s section).

At School Level

1. Medals to School/Class Toppers

Gold Medal of Excellence will be provided as under:

  • 5 to 9 registrations/class – Gold Medal of Excellence will be provided to top rank holders in class.
  • 10 to 25 registrations/class – Gold Medal of Excellence will be provided to the top 3 rank holders in class.
  • Registrations exceeding 25/class – Gold Medal of Excellence will be provided to the top 10% rank holders in class.

2. Student Performance Report (SPR) for each participant (in digital format​)

Every participant of SOF NSO will receive a Student Performance Report (SPR). An Student Performance Report is basically a detailed analysis of the student’s performance in the 1st level Olympiad exam. The main aim of the SPR is to share the analysis of the student’s answers with the student and her / his parents.

NSO 2023 Result

The results of the Olympiad will be out within approximately two months from the exam conduction. Usually, the result furnished by SOF includes students’ zonal rank, international rank, and school rank as well.
