PTE Exam 2023: PTE  or Pearson Test of English is a language test of English which is conducted for the candidates who are seeking to apply online at the foreign universities that use English as their primary source of communication. Now, the PLC Group has also launched PTE at home. Aspirants who wish to register for the PTE test can check out the PTE dates schedule online at the official website. There are more than 3000 universities and colleges based in the UK, New Zealand, Australia, and more that accept PTE Scores.

One can register for PTE by creating an account on the official website, providing the complete details, and paying the registration fees. Those who wish to take this test have to pay Rs. 13,700 inclusive of GST that provides the result within 48 hours of taking the test. The score of PTE  is scaled on a scale of 10- 90 points. The validity of PTE scores is for two years.

PTE General

Pearson Test of English General (PTE General) previously known as London Tests of English General is a theme-based examination that is mainly formulated to test the candidate’s communication skills in English in real-life and authentic situations of life. The test takers basically appear in this test on the basis of improving their English language. Only a few universities accept the scores of PTE General for admission purposes.

PTE Academic

Pearson Test of English, Academic (PTE Academic) was formed in the year 2009 and is validated by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). The test is a computer-based online examination designed to evaluate the candidate’s readiness to take up a university program in a native English-speaking country. There are many universities that accept the PTE Academic scores for admission purposes.

PTE Young Learners

Pearson Test of English for Younger Learners (PTE Young Learners) was previously recognized as the London Tests of English for Children. The test is conducted to check the children’s ability who are learning English as a foreign language.

PTE Exam 2023 Eligibility Requirements

PTE General

Non-native speakers who want to gain in-depth proficiency in the English language are suggested to take the PTE General test. Candidates who are migrating to a native English-speaking country should also appear for PTE General Test. There is no such eligibility criterion for PTE General. Anyone can take up PTE General as there is no suggestive qualification or age limit as such required.

PTE Academic

Students who wish to apply to foreign colleges or universities must appear in the PTE Academic test. Programs in colleges or universities are taught in the English language. Students must be proficient in English in order to interact with people with different accents. PTE Academic test assesses how fluent students are in the English language. The age of the student must be at least 18 years or older. In case the age of the student is less than 18 years, then he/she needs to produce a consent letter from their parents/ guardian.

PTE Young Learner

Children of the age group of 7 to 12 years are eligible to take up PTE Young Learner Test.

PTE Exam 2023 Registration Process

  • First of all, go to the PTE official website.
  • Fill out the necessary details like the test taker’s name, address, communication details, date of birth, and more.
  • One can book for PTE by clicking on ‘Schedule this exam’ and choosing the specific location for the exam.
  • Among the list of PTE exam dates 2023, the candidate will have to select the one as per his/ her need.
  • The booking will be confirmed after the payment of the PTE exam fee.
  • Indian candidates will have to produce their passports. If they fail to do so, then they will not be eligible to take up the test. PTE scorecard will be provided within 5 working days.

Examination Fee

The examination fee for PTE is INR 13,700 (including GST). To reschedule the test, candidates need to pay an extra amount:

  • In order to reschedule the PTE test date prior to 7 days before the booked date, test-takers need to pay a 25% extra fee.
  • In case of late registration, the applicant has to pay an additional late fee of INR 695.
  • Candidates can also get a PTE voucher code while making the examination fee payment.
  • They can avail of the PTE voucher code from the official PTE website as well.

Mode of Payment

Candidates can make the payment of the PTE exam fee via Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

Exam Pattern

PTE General Exams will be held in two categories: Speaking and Writing. The written test comprises four sections i.e. Listening, Reading Comprehension, and Writing. The scores of PTE General Exam scores will be evaluated on the basis of 6 levels of assessment: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2 which are based on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) grading system.

Individuals must obtain C1 or C2 level fluency in order to apply for being able to be accepted at foreign ministries and universities. However, not all universities accept the scores of PTE General as the scope of this test is only limited to real-life communication. Additionally, the PTE General Entrance Exam is not accepted for VISA purposes. There are a few ministries and universities that mentioned countries accepting the scores of PTE General- Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Italy, Vietnam, Greece, Ukraine, Estonia, UK, Ecuador, Czech Republic, Colombia, Switzerland, Spain, Mexico, and Argentina.
