Aspirants who wish to pursue a Research/Ph.D. Program through the council support must take up the ICMR JRF exam. The entrance examination will be conducted by the ICMR for such candidates. Eligibility Requirements
- The age of the applicant should not exceed 28 years however 5 years of age relaxation is provided to SC/ ST/ Physically handicapped categories and female candidates. For OBC category applicants the age relaxation is 3 years.
- Candidate must possess a post-graduate degree in a professional course or post-graduate degree in Basic Science.
- The minimum qualification required for a master’s degree is mentioned in the table below:

ICMR JRF 2023 Application form
- Firstly visit the official website of ICMR JRF – www.icmr.gov.in.
- After that, register yourself by entering your basic details such as name, address, father’s name, phone number, valid email id, etc.
- It must be noted that other than online mode there is no other way to fill ICMR Application form.
- A candidate must submit one form at a time. Therefore, multiple forms will lead to the rejection of the application.
- Candidates have to attach their scanned images of signature and passport-sized photographs as per the specified size.
- Applicants can pay the application fee through the payment gateway. Note that the application fee will not be accepted by IPO, Pay Order, Cheque, Money Order, etc.
- There is no need to send the hard copies of the application form to the office of conducting authority.

ICMR JRF 2023 Selection Process
After the commencement of the exam, the authorities of ICMR will release two separate merit lists. One list will include the names of the qualified candidates for life sciences and the other list will have the names of qualified candidates for social sciences. The officials of ICMR will prepare the list on the basis of participants’ performance in the entrance test. Those candidates who get shortlisted for the ICMR JRF program will be eligible to enroll in the Ph.D. program at any University recognized by the UGC/ MCI. The Junior Research Fellowship that is awarded to the candidates is valid for 6 months.
In addition, another 100 candidates would be selected by the officials and they will consider such candidates for the positions of JRF under various research schemes offered by ICMR. SC/ ST/ OBC/ Physically handicapped (PH) participants will be given special concessions as per the ICMR policy guidelines.
